What’s memorable to one person may be completely forgettable to the next person. When it comes to the sex hookup, I know this too well. Me and my buddies hang out every Friday night and we swap battle stories. Of course, you have to wade through the bullshit. In fact, the bullshit can get so thick that sometimes I feel like showing up to one of those meetings in fisherman’s boots. That’s how thick and nasty the sewage of exaggerations, embellishments and outright bullshit can be.

However, after wading through the bullshit and reading between the lines, I know that there’s a lot of truth there. There are lots of sexhookup stories that can make you think twice and wish that you were part of the hookup or that hookup happened to you. The interesting thing about listening to these stories is that it all boils down to the listener. What may be memorable to you may not be all that important to me. In fact, it may be completely forgettable to me or I would actively avoid having that memory. Do you see where I’m coming from?

This should not be a surprise because we all have different backgrounds. We all experience the world differently. Most importantly, we look at the world from a different set of eyes. We may be twin brothers, but we could still end up with two totally different views of the world and two totally different experiences of pretty much the same set of facts.

This is why the whole idea of a memorable sex hookup is fascinating to me because it reflects in my mind what’s important to me as far as my values are concerned as well as my intellectual and emotional priorities. For instance, a lot of guys wouldn’t find having sex with a hot date at a museum funny and adventurous. For me, on the other hand, since I’m a big Picasso and Andy Warhol fan, I think having sex in an art museum can really be a mind-blowing and ultimately an extremely memorable experience. I probably would not tell my grandkids about it, but I might write it in a private memoir somewhere.
